Keio University Graduate School of Media Design (KMD) serves as the representative institution for Project Cybernetic being, a research and development project under the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Moonshot Research and Development Program, Goal 1: “Realization of a society in which people can live free from limitations of their bodies, brains, space, and time by 2050.”

A meetup to discuss the potential of physical co-creation enabled by cybernetic avatars.
The Cybernetic being Meetup is an event hosted by the “Project Cybernetic being” under the Moonshot R&D Program Goal 1 by the Japan Science and Technology Agency: “Realization of a society in which human beings can be free from limitations of body, brain, space, and time by 2050”.

Project Cybernetic being is engaged in the research, development, and social implementation of cybernetic avatar technologies that transcend the limitations of human physical abilities. The project envisions a future society where diverse people—including persons with disabilities, the elderly, and children—can freely act and participate by distributing and sharing physical experiences and skills over the network.
※Cybernetic Avatar
A concept that, in addition to avatars such as robots and 3D images that serve as human substitutes, also includes ICT and robotic technologies that extend human physical, cognitive, and perceptual abilities. It aims to enable people to act freely and flexibly in the cyber-physical space of the Society 5.0 era.(Reference URL)
What kind of “responsibility” comes with a future freed from the constraints of the body, brain, space, and time?

The 12th Cybernetic being Meetup will explore the theme of “Responsibility Surrounding Cybernetic Avatars,” starting from the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and discussing the future of society in which cybernetic avatars play an active role.
The event will be moderated by Professor Kouta Minamizawa of KMD, Project Manager of Project Cybernetic being, with Ryuma Shineha (Associate Professor, KMD / Director, KEIO-RRI Center), Yize Hu (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor, KMD / Respi:re), and Sawako Shinomiya (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor, KMD / Respi:re) participating as speakers.
